Richard Olive

This scarf, by Richard Olive, is my latest obsession and captures everything I adore about the patterns created by the late 'interior decorator' David Hicks.

It's 100% silk jersey, so drapes beautifully and when it's not round my neck I've been 'dressing' the furniture in it.

Lovely David Hicks

Dear old David Hicks. I first discovered his interiors when I found his 'David Hicks On Decoration' book at a jumble sale at the height of 90's minimalism. From then on he quickly became my dirty little secret.

Sometimes a little separation is all that's needed to reinvigorate a relationship and after a long time devoid of pattern, I'm now daring myself to try it.

My glossy dark brown victorian woodwork and slightly greenish grey walls are gasping for a shot of scarlet. As for pattern? - think I'll play it cool and start with some cushions.
