Columbo...Just One More Thing...

Ok I love everything about Columbo, Peter Faulk as the maverick detective who does it his way but gets results (or was that someone else?). At the start of every episode we witness a murder, then watch the murderer squirm as our seemingly bungling detective closes in. Not so much a ‘who-dunnit’ as a ‘how-de-do-it?’ So what better way to spend sunday afternoon nursing a small hangover than watching "Negative Reaction" featuring Dick Van Dyke as our murderous photographer...

But what really turns me on about Columbo is the set design. From the first episode in 1968 “prescription Murder’ and right through the 70’s episodes there was a consistent house style of dark wood contrasted with dramatic bolts of fiery red. Danger, spilt blood, crimes of passion, or just a job lot of red carpet, don’t know but God it looks good.

And let's not forget Columbo's car, a beaten up Peugeot 403.

Wonder if his police pension would stretch to a vintage Nissan Figaro...
